MHST 601 Begins: Introduction Forum

My name is Miranda Lamb. I am a Registered Nurse working at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto, Ontario where I have practiced since 2005. I started my career in Surgical Oncology where I worked for 3 years, followed by 10 years in Emergency.

My passion is working in Trauma- and if I look back through my life to see my path I have been preparing for what I'm doing today since I was in high school. The Trauma population is unique and sometimes intense. I truly value and appreciate that I am allowed to step into the lives of my patients and their family's during some of the most vulnerable and challenging moments. Often our patients started their day as a `regular day', only to be involved, without choice, in sometimes life altering events.

I am currently working in the role of an Advanced Practice Nurse in Trauma with the aspiration of working in management where I can focus on a systems approach to care with our multi-disciplinary teams- supporting our program as a leader in trauma care. I am passionate about quality improvement as well as making sure that each interaction with our patients is genuine and supportive.
